We Won! BLUSHO Win Business Competition for Innovative Beauty Platform


Scotland-based beauty platform, BLUSHO has won funding and a business support package as part of the Scottish EDGE, Scotland’s leading business competition for innovative, high growth potential entrepreneurial talent.  

Founded in 2016, BLUSHO is a social-shopping discovery platform for beauty, driven by user generated content. The funding will now be used to expand the BLUSHO team, and take the concept to an international audience. 

Announcing the award on Monday evening, Gordon Merrylees, Head of Entrepreneurship at the Royal Bank of Scotland, said; “Our next winner was given the chance to pitch today thanks to you, our supporters. Having won our first ever public Wild Card EDGE vote with 47% of the vote, this start-up are aiming to bring shoppable selfies to life by offering a social-shopping platform for beauty where users upload makeup images and tag the products used, so that others can buy them.” 

Having received their award, which was presented by renowned Scottish entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter, Founder, Carla Mackay commented; “Winning Scottish EDGE means so much to us and the future of BLUSHO. We'll be able fast track our UK growth, and take the platform globally much quicker”

Evelyn McDonald, CEO of Scottish EDGE, remarked on BLUSHO’s achievement; “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to support BLUSHO as part of our eighth competition round. Our panel of expert judges were impressed with the high standard of the pitch and see great potential in BLUSHO’s concept. We look forward to supporting the business as they develop and to welcoming them into our network of high-profile alumni.”
