We love bringing all you bombshells the newest makeup trends and 2016 is the year of blue eyes! Seen all over the Spring 2016 runway shows such as Diane Von Furstenberg and Hugo Boss it is set to be one of the biggest beauty looks this year.

However, blue can be a bit daunting for those of you who aren’t used to wearing colour, where do you even begin when trying to brighten up your look? We’ve taken inspiration from some of our favourite celebs and MUAs for how we can add blue to our looks.

Smokey Eyes

@Sonjdradeluxe nails blue smokey eyes with this daring look! By applying an electric blue shadow all over her lid and smoking it out with darker shades she gets an ultra glam look. Pair with long lashes, liner and a nude lip for a statement look. Sonjdra used Anastasia Beverly Hills World Traveller Palette and Kat Von D's Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Metallic Cobalt ($21)

Blue Eyeliner

Queen of cool, Gwen Stefani, gives her everyday liner a twist with this bold blue cat eye. Perfect for those of you who want to give the trend a go but want to start with baby steps! Apply dramatic lashes to complete the look. Try Laura Mercier's Cream Eyeliner in Cobalt (£19.50) for a similar shade

Blue Mascara

Our inner 90’s child is so excited by this! Swap your beloved black mascara for blue mascara this year to get your makeup on point! Give the look a go with Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara in Blue (£19.50)

Soft Blues

Blue doesn’t always mean bold blues, Diane Von Furstenburg showcased soft blue beachy eyes at her Spring 2016 show and we loved it! Shimmer blue shadows so soft and whimsical and so ideal for a more wearable look. Give NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow in Blue Jeans (£5) a go to get the look.

One of the Pantone colours of the year, Serenity, is a gorgeous soft lilac blue and so many makeup brands are adding the shade to their collections to stay on trend this year. We love Sephora’s Pantone collection, the Colour Of The Year Matte Lipstick ($18) takes the trend to your lips for those who rather a statement lip.

If this all still sounds a bit too 'out there' for you then why not try navy? Navy is a great alternative to black and will suit any eye colour. Try a navy smokey eye instead of black or navy eyeliner to nail the trend. Try NARS Velvet Shadow Stick in GlĂ©nan (£20), use as an eyeliner or all over the lid and smudge.
