Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation - Is It Really Magic?

So, when we heard the new Charlotte Tilbury foundation had been in construction for 5 years we just knew we needed it in our lives! Since celeb makeup artist Charlotte released her own cosmetics line two years ago, the world has gone cray cray! Now counting makeup artists as well as celebs such as Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna among its fans, Charlotte Tilbury’s Makeup Revolution is well and truly taking over.

We have already tried, tested and loved so many of Charlotte’s other products such as the iconic Wonder Glow Primer and Filmstar Bronze & Glow (who hasn’t lusted over that?!) that when we heard about the new Magic Foundation it was immediately a must-have!

First of all, the advertising images for the foundation feature ‘before’ images of women who have certain skin issues such as enlarged pores, blemishes, redness etc. Then when you turn to the ‘after’ images, these imperfections have disappeared, literally! Could it actually be magic?! Now we know many of you will think airbrushing and photoshop could have a part to play in this so we decided to put it to the test ourselves.

Of course we immediately fell in love with the packaging, as with all of Charlotte’s products it is slightly vintage inspired with a gold lid giving it an old Hollywood luxe feel.

The foundation promises a lot, “It will magically reduce redness, make open pores disappear, cover imperfections, banish undereye bags, and brighten dull skin”, and so far so good. The first thing we noticed about it was that a little product goes a long way, so unlike other foundations you don’t need to layer it to achieve more coverage.

A slightly thick consistency when it first pumps out, it surprisingly does go on lightweight and doesn’t give you that cakey feeling. It claims to have a demi-matte finish, and considering we have oily skin, this is ideal. We found that it stays matte for quite a long time but throughout the day you also get a gorgeous dewy glow without being too shiny.

Our pores were definitely less visible when wearing the foundation, however we do still need to use a concealer to hide the odd blemish. When paired with a good concealer just to hide the darker red blemishes our skin then looked fabulous if we say so ourselves!

We purchased shade 4 but there are 12 shades, which should suit every skin tone, and applied with our trusty Beauty Blender it gives a flawless and blended finish that we find lasts all day. Check out Charlotte's video below showing how she uses the Magic Foundation to cover up acne, so clever!

The Magic Foundation definitely gets a thumbs up from us and is our new favourite, have you tried it? What do you think?
