Giambattista Valli for MAC is here!

It’s finally here! We know that our lucky followers in the U.S. got their hands on the lipsticks last week but unfortunately in the UK we had to wait a little longer until today, the day came and yay we got some!
MAC rule the bold lipstick world and so it was no surprise that the collaboration features not one but 5 bright, bold and colourful shades as well as a clear crystal glazed gloss.

Fashion designer Valli, is admittedly obsessed with colour and flowers so it was no surprise that this provided inspiration for the collaboration. Going through his previous fashion collections, Valli used the colourful tones that appeared throughout to come up with the exact colours he felt would tell his story.

What we loved the most about Valli’s ideas to create this collection was why he decided to go for a range of lipsticks above anything, “I was watching David Letterman’s show with Anna Wintour promoting the very first year of Fashion’s Night Out. Letterman asked, “How can you change the wardrobe of a woman with just $20?” Anna replied, “You go out and pick a brand new lipstick.” I thought that was so brilliant. So my idea was to put together the Valli colours — reds, pinks and fuchsia — hues that fit any kind of personality.”

The collection consists of 5 matte lipsticks and one clear gloss so that you can change it up and essentially have 10 different looks!
As lovers of bright statement lips, we went for the orange shade Margherita and bright pink Tats.

What we noticed straight away was how smooth and soft both lipsticks are despite being a matte range. They glide on effortlessly and don’t dry out our lips unlike our go-to red Ruby Woo, but also don’t leave a really matte finish so we would say they are more satin or semi-matte.

Margherita was a bit daunting and we didn't think we would like it as much as we did but it is a beautiful coral-peachy colour, not too bright but still super pigmented and so perfect for summer!

We knew we would love Tats, you can't go wrong with a hot pink lip and Tats is the dream. The hot fuchsia shade glides on beautifully and provides you with a bright statement lip that will glam your look in an instant.

Above everything, what we probably love the most about this range is the packaging! It looks so gorgeous on our dressing table and best of all it is so easy to find in my handbag as the packaging matches the shade. Hopefully MAC will take note of this for some of their future collections!

Did you manage to get your hands on any of the collection? What are your favourite shades? Let us know!
