Contouring is out, Strobing is in!

We know, we can hear you now, “Seriously, just when we’ve finally got the hang of exactly how to contour you’re telling us there’s something new?!”

Well, technically yes!

Gone are the days of caked on layers of bronzer (Sorry Kim K!), strobing is the more natural, fresher, younger sister of contouring! The technique is all about highlighting your natural features using light.

Of course, no natural look can be gorgeous and flawless without a clear, glowing complexion so skincare is key to pulling off this look.

1. First of all, make sure you are looking after your skin correctly so cleansing it properly morning and night as well as using a good moisturiser for your skin type is advisable.

2. Use a lightweight foundation or what we prefer is mixing your moisturiser with your foundation to give a dewy finish to your skin as well as being lightweight.
(The new Cover FX Custom Cover Drops are perfect for achieving this look, just add a few drops of your shade to whatever moisturiser you like to get the same benefits of your skincare along with coverage.)

3. Next, use a highlighter or illuminiser to highlight the areas of your face that reflect light the most, (see our image above!) so your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, temples and cupid’s bow. The great thing about this look is you don’t have to worry about what shade you use as most highlighters only come in the one shade. However, we would recommend using a champagne shade if you have pale skin and more golden toned highlighters for darker skin.

We’ve listed some of our favourite products for creating this look below!

NYX Born to Glow Liquid lluminator
MAC Strobe Cream (With a name like that it's obviously perfect!)

NARS Illuminator in Copacabana

Benefit Cosmetics Sun Beam and Moon Beam
